KEEPING HER FEET ON THE GROUND: THE ROYAL DUCHESS

I don't know what it is about the Royal family but I LOVE them. Despite still not quite understanding what the Queen does (I'm hoping the Olympic parachute jump is a reflection of her duties) or even knowing who half of the royal relatives actually are (Lady Louise and Viscount Severn? Nope me neither) I think they're great, and one of the newest members, Kate Middleton, is my favourite.

Kate is one of those great celebrities (I think she can be classed as a celebrity) who wears real people clothes. From high street shops. Like Zara. This is great news for the rest of us who want to look like a princess but can't afford to spend like one. We can now go out and buy the exact same outfit as her and then say to all of our jealous, onlooking friends "Oh you like my dress? Kate Middleton has it in blue darling!"

However, she is a Duchess after all, and with that title comes the chore of having clothes designed for you from the likes of Erdem, Alexander McQueen and Jenny Packham (sigh). So here are a few of her most recent outfits and some high street (cheap) alternatives.

1. The Lace Dress - a plunging neckline but Kate keeps her modesty with long sleeves and floor length

LEFT: Temperly London ---- RIGHT: ASOS, £30

2. The Sailor Wedge - a classic, and worn oh-so-well by the Duchess with skinny jeans

Kate Middleton on the left in navy Stuart Weitzmann wedges with a cork heel and on the right a black pair of wedges with raffia heel from Office
LEFT: Stuart Weitzman ---- RIGHT: Office, £32.50

3. The Monochrome Dress - I'm a bit of a sucker for monochrome, and paired with baby George, what could be better?

LEFT: Tory Burch ---- RIGHT: H&M, £12.99

4. The Powder Blue Coat - a statement piece for any wardrobe, work it with pastels and monochrome or contrast with brights for a bolder look

Kate Middleton on the left in an Alexander McQueen long pale blue coat with Prince William and on the right a pale blue coat from Zara
LEFT: Alexander McQueen ---- RIGHT: Zara, £99.99 (ok, not cheap, but LOOK AT IT <3)

 5. The Stripe Top - a piece that every girl needs, goes with everything and is effortlessly cool

Kate Middleton on the left with Prince William in a ME+EM striped black and white bretton tshirt and wearing a life jacket and on the right a long sleeved black and white cropped top from Monki
LEFT: ME+EM ---- RIGHT: Monki, £12

 6. The Tartan Skirt - schoolgirl-esq but can be dressed up and down. I actually have this Brandy Melville skirt and have worn it a bit too much...
